Lost Vidcast: Ep 1.1 “The First Of”
On the first ever Lost Vidcast: Jack and I tread uncharted waters. We take a look at the preview for the upcoming episode “Two for the Road” which will air the first week of May.
Ryan from The Transmission does a special report from the “Island” on the recent spoilerific material running around. You can check out his segment on its own at YouTube Of course it does contain spoilers so watch at your own risk.
We finish out the show by checking out some awesome fan made LOST music videos. One by Official Ben, and one from Miller17.
So all in all we hope you enjoy our first venture into Video Podcasting.

The animation, the reporting from Ryan, the music videos, the zoom-in on Jack’s head, the audition, it was all priceless.

i can’t believe it! Jay, you look like a goshdarn frat boy jock. i thought you were a sweet little guy. no, turns out you’re like the lead singer for a boy band. jack, you look about like what i imagined, just thinner.
once again, all my expectations for a podcast were shattered by revealing the real people behind the voices. Thank god Ryan and Jen never did a vidcast, because what if Jen doesn’t look as good as she sounds???? I’d have to fly to hawaii and freak out in front of them.

Loved it! Thanks for the great production guys. It was hilarious. I skipped over Ryan because I’ve been trying to avoid that particular spoiler on the boards, but everything else was great. Great job on the video Officialben. I vote for more vidcasts.

I have itunes, that’s how i saw the Zeke video, its just a white and grey screen.
But it works on my VLC media player when I downloaded the link. I blame Suri Cruise for the iTunes weirdness, not you Jay. Jay DOES look like Apollo Ono and Jack looks like a mini Mark McGwire. Also with the setup with Jack sitting on a chair and Jay behind the desk I half expect Jack to show up at my house with an oversized check for one million dollars. Hiyoooooo

I loved it, you should definatley do a weekly vidcast. I was expecting it to be more like your show but with cameras recording you but the was fab! Jay you said if it was any longer the download time woudl be too long but i got a 10meg connection and when i was streaming it it only took a few mins, you should do the same as you did for your podcast and do a super version where it is longer and maybe edit it down for people with slow connections, love the animation it was great and i hope no one is playing basketball next door when you record your next vidcast lol

Wow! This was great. As others have said, it was nice to have a face to put with the voice. Jay was a bit of a surprise - His voice does not do him justice. Jack, looked pretty much as I pictured him.
It was wonderful to hear (plus see) Ryan again. What a spoiler? I wonder if it it really true.
You guys did a great job and I hope you continue to create videocasts, no - vidcasts - no videocasts - no - vidcasts - oh whatever

If you try to watch the podcast on your i-pod, go into the videos section or the video won’t play. You just get sound. Maybe that’s why it didn’t work, Roger.
Anyway, I’m glad that the video podcast wasn’t that long because I would’ve had to recharge my i-pod battery! The other day I watched a video podcast that was over an hour & it ran the battery out. Anyway, that was fun. I loved the music videos. I hadn’t heard the Million Dollars song before. Funny! Oh, & where did you do the podcast? It sounded like people were playing basketball in the background. Well, I enjoyed it & hope you do more.

its a tossup if I want more vidcasts… I usually listen to you guys on my commute (walking through midtown manhattan) and it’s not so easy to do that watching a video. But all that aside, it was well done!

Dude that was awesome. The part with the music videos, and then the dramatic zoom up on the hairline, and the key. WOW. I can’t wait for the next one. Were you at the Rec Center or what? All I can say - after seeing your 1st vid er video-cast - is that I need even more gin than usual.
Great job on the animation and the editing in of the video pieces - Official Ben did an excellent job and the “Bare Naked Hurleys” is just scary.
Jack - as a former community theatre actor - I have to say your acting chops during your audition brought me to tears. I could feel the raw emotion, the angst of having to deal with the “Power of the Key”, your inner lust for Kate.
There’s only one thing left for you trwo to accomplish - “Jay and Jack LIVE”.

Wow! I was expecting Jack to be a bit heavier, older, and with less hair! He’s actually a young guy! Jay, I was expecting a tall, skinny, blond kid with thick glasses and messy hair. So needless to say, I was quite shocked at seeing the both of you. I agree with the others that they’re related in some way–not father-son, but uncle-nephew or they have the same dad or something…

Unbelievable! You guys have really escalated all expectations beyond reprise. I love it. Jack looked pretty much like I imagined him, but Jay was totally a surprise. I was expecting this flimsy, skinny dude with purple hair. And that key + 28 was awesome.
I also found the whole cast a very interesting note on the dynamic of the relationship between content creators (let us say, Lost producers) and content consumers. Here, it looks like the consumers have become adept creators themselves, bringing their own flavour to the mix. It just totally rocks and makes me feel very optimistic about our future as a species.
Also of interest was the copyright message in the credits. There are very interesting questions about intellectual property, its nature and value (to its creators) when it is acquired and re-hashed by others. To that end, those music videos were unbelievable - they captured and expressed ‘Lost’ in a way that far surpasses, for example, the ‘recap’ production (I forget what it was called) that the producers themselves created.
Anyways, great stuff guys. Great stuff.

You guys are right, I was disoriented by watching the vidcast, the voices seemed out of sync, but when I scrolled down and didn’t see the video, I felt comfortable again. Fantastic animation at the start. Handsome Jack had an AWESOME audition

Loved your vidcast. As others have said it was kind of weird to see you instead of just hearing you. Somehow I thought Jack would smile more… I also thought Jay would be blonde.
Anyway, Jay and Jack do have some similar coloring and facial features and since we’re in hiatus I’m starting to reconsider the whole father and son thing. Gald to see Ryan also. Super bonus points to all of you.

I must admit, I hated it when Ryan and Jen quit their show and I was forced to listen to you guys. You guys were always rambling and joking too much, I couldn’t stand you but I wanted to know more about Lost. Then after a few podcasts, I started to laugh, notice your formulaic banter ( e.g. This is Jay… and I’m Ethan … or whoever character will be introduced that day), and well, I looked forward for more.
Several podcasts later, I have subscribed to you guys, the only podcast I download, and yes I have seen your vidcast. Jack, I really like your audition. It was hilarious! And what’s the trickling water sound? Anyways, enjoyed it, not used to it but enjoyed it. Great animation too.

Loved it! Great set. Loved the whole late night talk show setup. I think an island-y type plant in the background would be great. Or use the green curtain as a green screen and put yourselves on the Lost beach.

omg best vid/video cast ever!! even though it was your guys first lol. i loved it. i didnt expect what jay and jack looked like and i was afraid to assume that jay was hot but now i know for sure i give ya an A+! i would love to see more vid/video casts soon and im working on my own crack pot theory and when its ready i shall blow your guys minds! lol luuveedd it

so were you guys shooting in a gymnasium? I felt like i was in a high school gym. or in a high school locker room….
anyway, great vidcast! the key thing was really funny. is Jack really only 28? Pschit! Then that must make Jay somewhere around 12. You guys just wanted to put on this vidcast so all the guys and girls could hit on you even more now right? i mean jay, don’t hide behind that podcast anymore! But seriously folks, I love the podcast and the vidcast was good, keep ‘em coming!
