Everyone assumes they are in the south Pacific somewhere. After sending Mr Joops a message you get the letter talking about a bacterial infection in the coastal region of Tanzania in Africa. My theory is the pilot of the plane in the fist season was really working for Dharma (or he was the co-pilot and he took over the plane) The plane was never flown east it was flown west toward Africa to the Island. Another reason why I think this is so is the plane that took Mr. Eko’s brother away was a small twin engine plane that could never have been flown to the south Pacific, the plane just doesn’t have the fuel range to make that kind of flight.

I think the Island is in the Indian ocean off the coast of Africa and we will find out the pilot was not killed as it appeared. That was the only bloody kill on the Island I think the smoke took him but fake blood was spilled onto the cockpit to scare them.
